Here is our conclusion on the Honda CR-Z!
!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!
As much as I love the Honda CR-Z for its good looks, sporty handling and lightweight characteristics… I think it's trying to be too many things…put it in Sport mode whilst driving briskly and the MPG nose dives.
You just can't have a Hybrid Sports Car, superb MPG and blistering performance don't go hand in hand. Over 340 miles we only managed 45 MPG, nearly 300 of those miles where with the car in Eco mode. Honda's Urban MPG claim is 47.1, Combined is 56.5.
We achieved far better MPG out of the !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! we tested earlier in the year, this even felt sporty enough to have fun in. The Civic is a proper hatch for 4 people too!
Honda should have split the CR-Z line up. Create a hybrid with superb MPG, forget all the Sport modes and be done with it. Then create a 200 BHP monster, ditch the hybrid completely or have turbo/supercharger that can be fully turned off for 'Green' driving on long journeys.
This would then separate the confusion that the poor CR-Z faces.

When it came out, I got blasted by people for saying it's too confused on what it wants to be so it ends up sucking at everything. Hell, I got dinged on jalopnik a while ago for saying such things. But it looks like people are finally realizing that it just isn't a very good car. Two seat hybrid front drive hatchback sports coupe? Trying to do too much with too little.

Well, it still looks like a good option to me, as I can't have any diesel Hondas. What would you say for our American options? I really want this to be perfect for me, though I'd likely get a Fiesta ST anyway...

Honda could rectify this situation by building a Fit SI. 4 wheel discs, maybe a 1.6 liter, or a turbo 1.5. That'd be a fun little car.

It is such a shame as underneath you can tell how well it is set up, it could certainly take alot more power than it has with ease!

Strapping a turbo to it would be the answer, but then that kinda kills the whole hybrid ethics!

Honda is coming out with a bunch of turbo engines in the near future, so it might be something we'll see anyway.
